Long-term Raptor Monitoring on the Washington Coast
We document raptor use of Washington beaches using a four-wheel-drive vehicle to cover ground.
For this research, we attempt to capture and band Peregrine Falcons and, on occasion, other raptors
observed along the way. Since 1995 when the project started, we have captured and banded more than 200
peregrine falcons. Over the years, dozens of research reports have been submitted to permitting agencies
and several scientific papers have been published.
In addition, presentations have been made at wildlife conferences and
to to school groups, civic groups and other organizations.
